Michael McGuirk, 36, pleaded guilty to theft of mail by a postal employee before U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez Tuesday. He faces a maximum sentencing of five years.
Between Sep. 2019 and May 2020, McGuirk was caught on camera “rifling through the mail, concealing mail in his clothing, opening packages and envelopes, and taking cash from the reserve cash register,” while he was employed at Columbia Post Office, investigators said.
He stole multiple pieces of mail, including packages, envelopes with gift cards or other items of value, they added.
