The Christmas holiday will be marked this year with a blast of heavy rain and heavy winds that could flood some roads and knock down trees, forecasters said.
The rain is expected to start late Thursday afternoon and continue with increased intensity through much of Christmas Day on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service issued a flood watch for much of Connecticut, saying: “Heavy rain may produce significant flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, as well as small streams and rivers. Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are expected.” The watch extends to Friday afternoon at 1 p.
