The fire that killed a man in a car in West Hartford earlier this month was accidental, police said Tuesday.
The fire started shortly before 4 a.m. in a car parked at 46 Kane St. An officer on patrol noticed the car fire but couldn’t see in to determine if anyone was inside.
The officer reported the fire to dispatchers to get fire trucks rolling and approached the burning car. He broke the window but was driven back by heat and smoke, police said at the time.
