In the Randy Edsall 1.0 era with the UConn Huskies, he had an undersized defensive lineman in Trevardo Williams who had a lot of success and was drafted into the NFL. Now in 2018, Edsall is hoping for the same in Darrian Beavers.
After spending the first two weeks of the 2018 season on the two-deep at linebacker, Beavera was moved to the backup defensive end spot the past two weeks. Now as the Huskies prepare for Cincinnati on Saturday, Beavers is listed as the starter at defensive tackle.
Like Williams, Beavers has speed and should be able to use that to his advantage up front as he gets more reps and experience.
