As Vernon officials and the secretary of the state’s office continued to debate their roles in a mailing label error that sent the wrong ballots to as many as 100 voters in the town, both sides said Wednesday they remain confident that the correct ballots will get to voters in time for the election that’s less than three weeks away.
Responding to comments from a spokesman for the secretary of the state’s office, Vernon Town Administrator Michael J. Purcaro reiterated Wednesday that the error was caused by an issue with the state’s election system, not a mistake by Vernon election officials.
