Verizon carriers are experiencing trouble getting through to 911 across the state, police said Thursday afternoon.
“This is an external issue with the carrier,” Brian Foley, a state police spokesman, said. “We are in constant contact with them as they try to fix their problem.”
Rocky Hill police department first reported a problem with receiving emergency calls around 2 p.m., since then, numerous departments including Vernon, Bristol, Branford, North Branford, Cromwell and Burlington have reported issues as well. At 4 p.m., Everbridge sent out an emergency alert regarding the situation.
“Occasionally we see partial outages and issues with the carriers who experience their own software, hardware or servicing issues,” Foley said.
