After UConn football’s 31-3 thrashing of its lower-division Fairfield County rivals Sacred Heart, the future of the Huskies’ skill position was on display.
Sophomore running back Cam Edwards took advantage of a great offensive line performance to torture the Pioneers at the second level, finishing with 12 carries for 90 yards rushing and 18 yards receiving for a career-high 7.7 yards per touch.
After the departure of Devontae Houston from the running back room in mid-October, Edwards was thrust into a larger role and flourished with it. He hit his season high in carries and yards (24 and 150 respectively) against USF in the first game after the bye week and followed it up with 89 yards against Boston College.
