As often happens with recruiting, time and place can be just as important as skill and potential. And as it related to Molly Bent's journey to UConn, kismet came at the Deep South AAU Tournament in Raleigh, N.C., in April.
Bent, a promising 5-foot-9 junior guard from Barnstable, Mass., already with SAT scores soaring in the vicinity of 2,000, was playing on one of about 30 courts with the Rhode Island Breakers when UConn assistant Marisa Moseley happened by.
"There are so many different ways [a player can be discovered]," said Bill Coughlin, the Breakers' veteran coach.
