In their first game of the spring semester, the UConn women’s basketball team made quick work of the SMU Mustangs in a 79-39 win.
The Huskies’ seniors carried the load offensively, outscoring the Mustangs with 43 points. Collier totaled eight rebounds and four assists while Samuelson grabbed four rebounds to go with five assists.
As has become typical of the last few games, the Huskies got off to a slow start and only led by three when SMU took their first timeout of the game. After the short break, UConn woke up and quickly ripped off a 18-3 run that put them up 24-10 at the end of the first quarter.
