UConn women’s basketball made a splash at the start of the early signing period, landing 6-foot-4 Egyptian forward Jana El Alfy. She’ll join guards KK Arnold, Qadence Samuels, and Ashlynn Shade in the Huskies’ 2023.
A native of Cairo, El Alfy picked UConn over Cincinnati, Duke, Maryland, Michigan, NC State, Louisville, Oregon, UCLA, and UNC. She visited the Huskies back in September and was spotted with the team at a Connecticut Sun game.
El Alfy’s father is Ehab El Alfy, the head coach of the Egyptian women’s national team and former professional player. She participated in the 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship with Egypt, averaging 24.
