Ahead of tonight’s American Athletic Conference tournament beginning, The American doled out its regular season awards for the 2018 campaign. Senior tri-captain Jacob Hauser-Ramsey was named Defensive Player of the Year, while freshman defender Felix Metzler took home conference Rookie of the Year honors. Senior star forward Abdou Mbacke Thiam was named to the All-AAC first team, but was edged out by UCF’s Cal Jennings for Offensive Player of the Year. Both Mbacke Thiam and Hauser-Ramsey were unanimous selections.
UConn’s Dylan Greenberg, Dayonn Harris, and Robin Lapert joined Metzler on the second-team all-AAC list. Harris, a red-shirt junior, notched four goals and six assists on the year, good for second on the team in points (14).
