UConn men’s hockey is looking to reload after the most successful season in program history, led by a nine-member senior class. On Monday, the Huskies secured a player who could contribute right away in Russia native Ruslan Iskhakov.
First reported by Neutral Zone and confirmed by The UConn Blog, Iskhakov will be coming to Storrs in time for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
The Huskies lost six forwards from last season’s fifth-place Hockey East team, including fellow Russian Maxim Letunov. As the No. 31-rated international skater by NHL Central Scouting, Iskhakov is well-regarded as a member of Russia’s U-18 team.
