The UConn men’s hockey team fell in their first game at the Friendship Four Tournament in Belfast, Northern Ireland, 3-2 to the BU Terriers.

The Huskies opened the scoring thanks to a power play goal from Karl El-Mir, his seventh of the season. Alexander Payusov sent a shot on net that bounced out, but El-Mir was there to send home the rebound and put UConn up 1-0.

However, they quickly lost all momentum after getting whistled for a pair of penalties, giving BU a power play for nearly four straight minutes. Aided by some big saves from goaltender Adam Huska, the Huskies killed the first penalty but couldn’t outlast the second as the Terriers tied the game at 1.
