After testing the NBA waters last season, UConn men’s basketball rising senior guard Christian Vital announced on Instagram Wednesday night that he is returning for his senior season.
Vital showed improvement as a junior last season under first-year head coach Dan Hurley, averaging 14.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, shooting nearly 41 percent from three and playing stout defense.
With guard Jalen Adams now gone due to graduation, Vital should get even more touches and form a dangerous backcourt with Alterique Gilbert. That duo combined with another year with Hurley at the helm has Vital hoping he can reach the NCAA tournament for the first time in his career.
