UConn Men’s Basketball: Alterique Gilbert Out Against UCF

After injuring his left shoulder last game against Wichita State, Alterique Gilbert will miss UConn men’s basketball’s game on Thursday night, the school announced. Gilbert is still experiencing “lingering soreness” in the shoulder and is day-to-day moving forward.

Gilbert has dealt with plenty of issues with his left shoulder. He dislocated it during the 2016 Jordan Brand Classic, which forced him to undergo his first surgery. During his first freshman campaign, Gilbert dislocated it again early in the season and again underwent surgery, ending his season. During his second year in Storrs, Gilbert re-injured the shoulder against Michigan State in PK80 and, like the two previous times, underwent surgery that ended his season.
