UConn Football Recruiting: Southington ATH Jay Rose Signs With UConn

Rose was believed to be interested in playing quarterback at the next level but has decided to commit to UConn in a hybrid tight end/H-back role.

Without question, Jay Rose is one of the most heralded recruits to sign with UConn Football in its FBS history. Holding offers from Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Boston College, Maryland and others, Rose chose to stay close to home and help lead his hometown team to prominence.

During the recruiting process, he always said he wanted to keep playing quarterback—the position he played his final two years at Southington High—in college. It was part of the reason, reportedly, that Syracuse and UConn were the two last schools he was deciding between.
