UConn football added their first 2019 high school commitment on Thursday as running back Darrin Smith announced his decision on Twitter.
A native of Frisco, Texas, Smith is a three-star prospect according to Rivals and 247sports. He held offers from Power Five schools Colorado and Nebraska along with American Athletic Conference rivals Tulane and SMU.
Smith will be the fourth player on the Huskies’ roster from Texas, joining Noel Ofori-Nyadu, Nate Hopkins and Caleb Thomas. Smith appears to be trying to build that pipeline even more for his school.
“They just offered Nolan Matthews at Reedy from right up the road that I told them to offer,” he told Rivals.
