UConn baseball opened a can of whup-ass on Boston College Tuesday afternoon, beating their regional rivals 12-0 in their most complete performance so far this season.
Returning to the lineup against Rhode Island after slumping at the start of the season, senior captain Chris Winkel was the catalyst for UConn, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in the blowout win.
“It looked like guys just got a little more comfortable out there [today] and Chris was key to that, showing them the way,” head coach Jim Penders said.
Eight of nine Huskies recorded at least one hit on the day, and they recorded a season-high five extra-base hits.
