East Hartford police arrested two local officers Wednesday on charges they tried to inflate hours worked for a private contractor.
Sgt. Ian Allison, 51, and Officer Robert Jones, 54, turned themselves in and both were charged with attempted second-degree larceny, police spokesman Lt. Josh Litwin said.
On Aug. 4, a road construction contractor told police that officers hired the previous day were seeking payment authorization signatures for hours they did not work, Litwin said. Police immediately began an internal review and then a criminal investigation, he said.
Allison and Jones, who have been on administrative leave, were released on promises to appear and are scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Oct.
