Connecticut lab workers have discovered the state’s first two cases of a more contagious coronavirus strain first identified in the United Kingdom, Gov. Ned Lamont announced Thursday.
Both cases are individuals between ages 15 and 25 who live in New Haven County. One of the two residents had recent traveled to Ireland and the other had been to New York State.
“As we said last week, given the speed of this new strand of the virus and its identification in several states throughout our country, we presumed it was already in our state and this information this morning confirms that fact,” Lamont said in a statement.
