The National Weather Service has confirmed a small tornado touched down in Kent Wednesday afternoon as strong storms swept across Connecticut.
According to the NWS, the EF0 tornado with peak wind speeds of 85 mph cut a roughly 30-yard wide, one-mile long path as it traveled east through the Litchfield County town.
“The tornado damage was sporadic along the path which began along Route 7 just north of Bulls Bridge and consisted mostly of downed tree limbs,” the weather service said, in a statement Thursday afternoon. “A few hardwood trees were snapped and uprooted and one homeowner lost part of a solid wooden fence along Spooner Hill Road.
