The FDA signs off on Pfizer coronavirus vaccine in 12- to 15-year-olds, moving Connecticut one step closer to vaccinating adolescents

Connecticut health care providers will soon begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children as young as 12 years old, after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for use in children aged 12 to 15.

The decision will expand immunization to thousands of residents as Connecticut moves toward a return to normalcy and the state pushes to encourage more vaccinations.

The vaccine still has to go before an advisory group at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is scheduled to meet Wednesday to recommend the specifics of use for the new age group.
