A Hartford man who police believe opened fire on another car Tuesday morning was arrested a few hours later when detectives found a stolen handgun hidden underneath a baby in a car seat in his car.

Andre Pink, 30, was charged with five offenses, including possession of a stolen firearm and risk of injury to a minor, police said. He was held on $200,000 bond.

The incident began just before noon Tuesday when the city’s gunshot detection system recorded three shots near Asylum Avenue and Whitney Street, Lt. Paul Cicero said. A witness called police moments later to report the occupant of a white Audi shot at a gray vehicle after the cars collided.
