On Sunday, Sue Bird reached another milestone in her impressive WNBA career after eclipsing the 6,000-point mark. Having spent her entire career with the Seattle Storm, Bird also surpassed Lauren Jackson’s all-time franchise scoring record a mere eight points later with a jumper in the third quarter.
The former UConn star had a season high 21 points in Sunday’s 97-91 victory over the Washington Mystics, and finished the game atop the Storm leaderboard with 6,016 career points. Jackson’s previous record was 6,007 points in 12 seasons with the Storm. The former WNBA champion and Olympian took to Twitter to congratulate Bird on the accomplishment.
