About 20 people were arrested during a peaceful protest by healthcare workers outside state offices in Hartford late Thursday afternoon.

The protesters were charged with first-degree criminal trespass because they went into the building at 450 Capitol Avenue and refused to leave despite several orders to do so, state police said Friday. They were arrested about 5 p.m., taken to the Troop H barracks on Washington Street and released on written promises to appear in court Monday.
