Stamford police make assault arrest after deadly outdoor party

Police have arrested a partygoer who they said wounded a man at a large weekend gathering in Stamford that turned deadly with a burst of gunfire.

Ian “Easy” Evans, 28, was found at a Bridgeport home Thursday and arrested with help from the U.S. Marshals Service, police said. He was charged with first-degree assault, criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, criminal use of a firearm and reckless endangerment, and his bail was set at $1 million.

Detectives still are looking to make arrests in the killing of Shernetta Dunmore, who died early Sunday after being shot numerous times at the end-of-summer gathering, and in the shooting of a second man who survived.
