Hamden police said they are looking for the driver of a stolen, speeding car that was involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash Wednesday with a scooter.
The collision happened about 5:30 p.m. in the area of 2390 State St. Witnesses told officers that two cars were speeding south on State Street, weaving in and out of traffic, passing other cars and crossing the center lines, police said.
One of the cars, a Toyota Corolla, struck a northbound scooter, they said. The scooter rider was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Moments after the collision, the occupants of the Toyota – which turned out to have been stolen from its owner in town on June 17 – got out of the car and got into the second vehicle, a blue Honda, license plate AS-54198.
