Southington police have arrested their chief’s son on a sexual assault charge but said the chief was not involved in overseeing the investigation.
Mark F. Daly, 24, of Southington was arrested on a warrant charging him with fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor, on May 14. He was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court in New Britain on May 28, police said.
Daly is alleged to have had sexual contact with a 19-year-old woman without her consent, police said in a news release.
Southington Police Chief John F. Daly was aware his detectives were investigating a sexual assault allegation against his son but did not get involved in the case, a department spokesman said Thursday.
