Topping off the misery of 2020, South Windsor’s fire chief said a smooth operator captured his daughter’s heart before making off with her car and Christmas presents.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Chief Kevin Cooney wrote that his daughter “had her heart and car stolen on 12/26.”
Police confirmed they are looking for a 2014 Nissan Altima. As of Wednesday, department spokesman Sgt. Mark Cleverdon said, the still-missing vehicle is considered taken without permission, but the case could rise to a first-degree larceny, depending on how it unfolds. The police report says the person suspected of taking the car was in a relationship with the owner.
