Several Connecticut beaches and state parks are closed Sunday after they reached capacity around noon on the final day of the July 4th long weekend.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said Hammonasset, Rocky Neck, Silver Sands and Sherwood Island beaches were all closed and at capacity. Wadsworth Falls, Bigelow Hollow and Millers Pond state parks were also at capacity.
Sunday’s closures follow a busy July 4th at the state’s parks and beaches. At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, many parks had already reached capacity and closed for the day.
The state’s beaches parks remain open during the coronavirus pandemic, so long as those visiting maintain appropriate social distancing.
