Two armed people confronted a Chester resident in his driveway early Sunday, demanding money and firing shots as they fled, town officials said.
No one was injured during the encounter, “but the homeowner was understandably shaken,” they said in a Facebook post. The resident suspected the robbers had been trying to steal a car.
Similar incidents that may involve the same thieves were reported in Westbrook and the Tylerville section of Haddam, the officials said.
Police are “aggressively” investigating, they said. Constables, state troopers and police dogs went to the scene, as did state police Major Crimes detectives.
