A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 8:15 p.m. Monday for parts of northern Connecticut as storms with pounding rain, gusty winds and potential hail race across the state.
A severe storm was over Windsor just after 7 p.m. and moving east at 20 mph with radar-indicated wind gusts of up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, according to the National Weather Service.
“Expect wind damage to trees and power lines,” the weather service warned. “Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible.”
Towns that could be impacted by the storms include: Hartford, Manchester, East Hartford, Enfield, Vernon, Windsor, Mansfield, South Windsor, Bloomfield, Suffield, Ellington, Tolland, Windsor Locks, Coventry, Stafford, Somers, East Windsor, Monson, Willington and East Granby.
