The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Connecticut, including part of Hartford County.
The warning was issued shortly before 1:10 p.m., as a severe thunderstorm was located over Somers, near Enfield, moving south at 20 mph, the weather service said.
The storm is expected to hit Tolland County, northeastern Hartford County and southwestern Windham County. It will hit Manchester, Enfield, Glastonbury and Vernon, among other towns.
Expect 60 mph hour wind gusts – which may topple trees and powerlines -- and hail the size of a quarter, the weather service said.
