Region 14 schools superintendent put on paid leave amid investigation of coronavirus clinic that vaccinated elected officials

The Region 14 school board voted unanimously Thursday to place Joseph Olzacki on paid administrative leave while it pays for an independent investigation into actions taken by the administration during a COVID-19 vaccine. clinic.

Olzacki, superintendent since Sept. 2018, has come under fire for a clinic that the Nonnewaug Teachers Association says saw Olzacki, central office staff, members of the board of education, volunteers and their spouses receive the vaccine ahead of teachers at the clinic.

Olzacki has defended his actions, saying that everyone in the district was included in the clinic because he expected everyone to get inoculated over a three-week period.
