Two unidentified individuals stole a rainbow flag from a Bethel coffee shop, burned it, then left the damaged flag at the front door for the owners to find the next morning, police said Tuesday afternoon.
On Easter morning, police received a report from Molten Java, an LGBTQ-owned coffee shop that also is a venue for local artists and musicians, that a rainbow flag that hung outside the building was damaged overnight, they said.
Officers were able to obtain video footage which showed two people “removing the flag from the business and subsequently leaving the area. One of the individuals is seen later returning the damaged flag,” police added.
