Quinnipiac University leaders publicly condemned social media posts linked to two incoming students that have drawn ire in recent weeks, including one showing a young woman in blackface and another that referred to COVID-19 as “the Chinese virus.”
President Judy Olian and nine other top administrators admonished both posts in a letter to students and staff on Tuesday that stopped short of calling either post racist but indicated neither was in line with the university’s “core values” and would not be tolerated.
The letter noted both posts were investigated and the university had decided “a course of action appropriate for each instance,” but officials would not say whether either student had their admission rescinded, citing student privacy.
