An Enfield police officer shot and killed a large pit bull while it attacked a woman Tuesday evening in Enfield, biting her neck and dragging her into a yard.
The woman suffered the injury near her neck and “severe lacerations” on her foot from another bite by the dog, police said. She was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The incident began at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when an officer investigating a separate call on Spring Street spotted a large dog attacking a woman, police said.
The officer rushed over while the dog was still biting the woman’s foot and the dog’s owners were able to briefly stop the attack by “pouring hot water” on the dog, police said.
