Police: Man who fatally stabbed Stamford resident may be trying to get back to Guatemala

Stamford police have released the name of the man they suspect fatally stabbed a local resident after crossing paths with him in a bar Sunday.

Samuel Delfiro Zapata-Herrera, 29, is believed to be an undocumented Guatemalan National who may be trying to get back to his home country, police said Thursday. They also released a new picture of Zapata-Herrera.

Zapata-Herrera has been staying in the Stamford area, they said. Anyone who spots him is asked to call detectives at 203-977-4417 or dispatchers at 203-977-4444.

A patrol officer found him on the sidewalk in front of 115 Stillwater Ave.
