Police make arrest in Middletown shooting

Antwan Rufus, 32, of Main Street was charged with second-degree assault; criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault; first-degree reckless endangerment and gun charges, they said. He is in custody on $500,000 bail.

The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. on Williams Street, police said. A male victim was shot multiple times in the leg.

No one has been arrested in an incident of gunfire a few days earlier. The shots-fired incident, which is believed to be related to Saturday’s shooting, happened about 10:45 April 28 near Maplewood Terrace, police said. Nobody was injured.

Detectives continue to investigate both gun incidents.
