MANCHESTER — Two gatherings are set for Saturday morning in the same area -- a show of support for local police and a Black Lives Matter protest.
The planned walk in support of police is scheduled to start in the area of Manchester High School at 10 a.m. and proceed to the nearby police station on East Middle Turnpike. A BLM protest organized by Power Up Manchester is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the high school.
Power Up founder Keren Prescott said Manchester High students reached out to the organization after hearing about the support-the-police rally. The students, Prescott said, sought a reply to that gathering.
