Plainville Police Chief Matthew Catania has died, according to local firefighters and the statewide police chiefs association.
The Plainville Fire Department posted its condolences on Facebook, saying, “We are keeping his family and the entire Plainville Police Department in our thoughts and hearts.”
Marcia Firetto, manager of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association, said the association learned of the chief’s death in an email. She didn’t have details early Wednesday but said that Catania had recently been hospitalized. He did not suffer from COVID-19, she said.
