A 23-year-old man woke up to two hooded men with an assault-style rifle inside his home around 2:30 a.m., Wednesday morning, Plainfield police said.
Police were initially responding to a report of a stolen car near South Chestnut Street around 6:45 a.m., when a neighbor told officers two men, one in a ski mask and hooded sweatshirt, and another “heavy set with a hooded sweatshirt,” broke into his residence earlier in the morning.
One of the men punched him in the face and demanded a safe to be opened, taking money and various electronics, the 23-year-old told police.
