Connecticut State Police arrested a Pennsylvania man who was threatening to kill an individual “in order to gain custody of their child,” police said Thursday night.
Jonathan Putnam, 26, was charged with first-degree threatening, first-degree harassment, disorderly conduct and three drug charges after being detained in Brooklyn, Connecticut, around 2 p.m. Thursday evening, police said. They initially were responding to a report that Putnam was sending threatening text messages.
“Through investigation, it was determined that Putnam was enroute to Plainfield, Connecticut from Pennsylvania stating among other things that he was in possession of a firearm and threatened to kill the reporting party in order to gain custody of their child,” police said.
