Hall of Famer Pat Summitt will remain the Tennessee women’s basketball head coach emeritus this season, per an AP report. Summitt agreed to a deal that will pay her $75,000 for this season, the same amount she received last year.
As was the case last year, this new deal states that Summitt will have the head coach emeritus title “in perpetuity, or until she chooses to relinquish it.”
It’s hard to argue that Summitt, 63, deserves anything less than such a title. She coached the Lady Vols from 1972 up until 2012, shortly after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s.
