Around Connecticut, most of the state was seeing temperatures in the low 90s. Around 2 p.m., downtown Hartford was experiencing heat as high of 92 degrees.
Groton was the outlier, reaching a high of 69 by 2 p.m., National Weather Service Meteorologist Alan Dunham said.
“It sits there and just pumps up all the heat and humidity from the Southern states and the Gulf of Mexico and brings it right over the top of us,” he said.
