UConn women’s basketball will face Syracuse in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Tuesday night. Syracuse is 14-8 on the season and finished fourth in the ACC with a 9-7 record.
The Orange rank 71st in Her Hoop Stats ratings of all 343 NCAA DI teams, similar to the Huskies’ Big East opponent Villanova — and not far ahead of High Point despite being an 8-seed. Syracuse ranks higher in the NET at 43rd, based on games through March 14th.
At the helm for the Orange is senior point guard and Nancy Lieberman Award finalist Tiana Mangakahia, who missed the ACC tournament with an injury but returned to play 39 minutes in the round of 64.
