Massage oils might be what caused an odor that sickened two people and forced an evacuation at Bishops Corner in West Hartford Thursday morning, a fire official said.
Shortly before 9 a.m., 911 operators received a call about a possible gas leak at 333 North Main St, which houses Massage Envy and Noodles & Company among other retail businesses, Battalion Chief Jim Matthews said. About a half-dozen people left the building.
Firefighters and CNG used equipment to check the air for natural gas but found none, Matthews said. They determined that chemicals in the oils used at Massage Envy may have released the odor.
