The tornado, which began and ended in Kent, was estimated to have began at 3:31 p.m., with average wind speeds of 80-85 miles per hour. It had an estimated path width of 75 yards, and an estimated path length of a half mile.
More powerful tornadoes came through elsewhere in Connecticut on Thursday, the NWS said. An EF1 tornado touched down in Bethany at 4 p.m. on Thursday, with a path 11 miles long and 500 yards wide. It blew itself out in North Haven and disappeared into the Long Island Sound, per the NWS. Microbursts of 90 to 100 miles per hours tore through the shoreline east of New Haven.
