Smoke from a nearby, 300-acre brush fire has forced school officials to close North Windham Elementary School.
“The air quality inside the building is not conducive to learning,” school officials said in a note posted on the school district’s website Thursday.
Staff will try to teach all students remotely, administrators said, adding, “Please be patient with us as our teachers from North Windham did not know they were going to be doing this today from their homes.”
The fire is burning between routes 203 and 6, or Boston Post Road, near the Chaplin line, according to John Wylie, spokesman for the North Windham Fire Department.
