Newtown's Wilcox First State Player Drafted; UConn Stars Still Waiting

Today is the day for a number of Connecticut ball players to learn where they stand.

Now that the first two rounds of the MLB Draft, the first 75 picks have been made, the next series of selections begins Tuesday at 1 pm. It will be a long day of waiting and hoping.

Several UConn players figure to be picked. Second baseman Vinny Siena, who worked out for the Mets and Phillies last week, and pitcher Carson Cross could be the first Huskies to go. Catcher Jack McDowell is another who has drawn attention.

First baseman Bobby Melley and outfielder Jack Sundberg could be plucked from UConn before the draft is done.
